Because this is intended to NOT be a ratty beater, I wasn't going to build it on this forum. But we need the participation on Rustbucket REALLY BADLY, and I guess this classification is appropiate after all, due the unusualness of a Cord FWD flathead V-8 in a hot rod. So, thanks to Buck Z, I have had a 1937 Cord 812 front wheel drive engine waiting for me to finish the 40 vert. No directions or clues, so I Googled. Found many pics of beautiful cars but few details of the innards. Found a couple of pics of engines in a museum, and finally a drawing of the front suspension. So I have a vauge idea, now, what some of the parts are, and on how to proceed. Most definitly calls for a scratchbuilt frame, and I will rely on my usual imagineering to come up with a faintly plausable model. Try to keep it a 'clean' build (no beater) and fairly traditional, but I've already decided to put a 4 bbl on it.

I did a little detailing on the transaxle today, from some reference fotos. This is too much fun!!! I have to get busy on a frame before I get the engine too fragile to handle.

Your detailing on the transaxle and the carbs is awesome.......but you forgot pics of the heads. Did great on those, too. This one is really shaping up to be another GREAT CLAY model. Thanks for sharing the pics. Alex

That's a great model, Jeff ! And man, does that help me !!!!! Those engine parts were all that I have. I have a set of instructions being sent to me, but my pal can't get to it until Tuesday. I was prepared to scratch up some exhaust headers in the standard way, but I see that those gadgets coming out of the manifold alongside the intake, must be the exhaust headers. And I was wondering how the radiator was set up. I'm trying to hold back on scratching a chassis until I see how the stock front end is put together. May have to resort to pure imagineering for that. Would really like to see an underside or chassis shot of your model if you have one. Heres the scratched wire looms Alex mentioned.

Clay, thats my old 29 packard. i deleted the front doors as it was a ten seater limosene once. it was imported here for an earl or a duke, and then several town mayors used it. i got it after it sat around rusting for years. the roof is thick aluiminum so thats in ok shape. one day, ill get to building it. lol. glad the pics helped. Jeff.
