Since Geezerman is one of my heros and I just love watching his builds, I'll post something here. The cab is pre 59, so maybe it can slip through. It might even have some rust to it, we'll see... I've always wondered where Geezerman found all of these wonderful parts out in his junkyard and not only that, how did he haul them back to his shop? Sneaking out into his back forty one dark and stormy night is when I saw his parts puller and got inspiration to build mine. I had this old mack sitting out in my junk yard. Rough shape to say the least. I found some tires that would hold air and some kegs that would hold fuel. Duel kegs would mean I wouldn't have to keep filling it. I had to replace the front end, the rear end and rebuild the chassis. This thing had some custom seats in it that were rotting away, so I tossed some aluminum together and got some quickies that would work for now. I got a bed together kind of quickly. It's great for hauling stuff, but I'm not too sure I can take this thing out on the street anyway, so I figured instead of trying to drag engines and rear ends back to the shop, why not lift them and drive them back ? Now if I could just find a winch... Comments and critics welcome. Greg.

For and "old school" approach, might consider scratch-built block and tackle chain hoist on rollers. Just a thought.

As a modeler, you teach yourself to throw away nothing... ;D I was looking over the left over bits and pieces I had cut away and it hit me. There was a winch here, I just had to put it together. I wonder what kind of a bottle this is? Propane, maybe? If so, then this is a chain driven, propane powered winch right out of the J C Whitney catalogue. This winch turned out kind of big, but I think I can jam it in here... The roller is where the cable will come from the winch, or at least that's the current plan. What's everyone think? Greg.

I think it will fit something like this... I did a little painting and weathering to it. I know it's kind of hard to see and I'm sorry. I just don't have any lighting set up right now, but I will eventually. Someone had the idea of a granny rocker in the back. Hmmm... I don't know. Here are some engine choices. There is a flathead in there now, I think everyone likes flatheads, right? When I started this, the idea was no engine, just some wires and stuff hanging with that big porsche engine getting set to go in that is in an earlier picture. Now I'm starting to wonder. I think the chevy and the vw in the foreground will fit with a little bit of redoing. The flathead that sits in there now might also be able to be squeezed in. The two to the back might be cool, but I don't think they'll ever shoehorn into this little tiny engine bay. Which do you like? Here's another view of some of the grime that's accumulating and the flattie shows up a little better. Looking for ideas. Greg.

;D Ok. What do you think? There are connection plates to the hoist now so the winch can sit like this. That means the bed can be cut down and some metal guards are on it... You may all start laughing now if you like. The pink flathead is going through a bit of a color change. I'm not sure I'll be able to use the dual radiators on the cowl, but we'll see what happens... Are we having fun yet? Greg.

You should have looked for a hook when you went down to the docks and found the wench. Was the wench serving pints of ale or just hanging out on the docks?
Sorry, couldn't resist.
