Getting anxious to get past this building and move on. Close, but I wish I had addressed these crappy brick corners before all that delicate detailing So, while that was setting up, I went ahead and laid out a screen door to hang off the front. When I had cut out the openings, I found out that I had used a model box top, and the backside had the glossy printing. Used it anyway and painted the back black. Using the screen portion from an automotive paint strainer. Ready to be hung later.

Main bldg. is at a stage that I will have to 'plant' it to start building off of it. Here's the front apron with a relic, that will go in the back somewhere, to check the clearances. And the canopy supports. Used a couple of Tichy Train barrel lids and bolts for the bottom. Tubes are from an oversize straw, courtesy of Beef O Bradys

The hill, retaining wall, and foundation are all permanantly attached to the base. (not the bldg yet) I'll have to start doing stuff in this area 'on site'

Looks good, but deterioration seems to be winning out over stations profit margin. I hope there's enuf $$ for a few amenities, like gas, tools, leakproof roof, and Coke!

Slid off to make an accessory ;D piece of marker barrel, piece of bead tube and cap, some alum tube, some beads, Ford hubcap, wire and guitar strings. Now, I have some reference fotos of old pumps, (Beacon, Bowser, etc.) but I have them for reference only. I didn't try to duplicate them at all, I just wanted the flavor of them Paint doesn't want to stick to the wire covering (sleeve) but I'll fix that when I'm done screwing around with it.

Dressed off the foam on the front section of the base. Decided the real wood canopy beam was too heavy looking, so I'm replacing it with a steel L beam (cardboard). Plus, it gives me a ledge to set the rafters on.

Well, things grinding slo on diorama progress. Not only did I injure my knee, Sunday before last, and the bone that goes all the way to my ankle, but I have tackled a home repair job that requires me to work at floor level and below. Not fun !! Ok, pity party is over. My other slodown is on the dio itself. I'm at a point that I want to start landscaping some of the front portion before adding on to the building and going on to the rear.. MY problem is that I don't want the lichen/sawdust look of usual model railroad scenery! I'm half afraid that I may not be able satisfy myself. But here's what I'm trying. This is one of my (neglected) small bonsai. Those weeds at the base of this tree are a common nuisance to us here in Florida (probably elsewhere also). I have pulled some of these, let them dry out and then trying to preserve them by soaking them in really thinned oil based paint. Ya, I know, glycerin is what normally is used to preserve flowers, etc. but I don't have any Treated on towel, dried in left lower forground, and a fresh picked weed in right lower forground. I hope I have enough.... I might have to start a flat of these on purpose! While I'm working on the ground part, I'm still experimenting. "Only God can make a tree" I'm using one of His carcasses that I had previously qualified for the DBS (Dead Bonsai Society). This is gonna take a hell of a lot of weeds!!!
