still gathering parts for a rat rod idea, but in the mean time another vintage late model dirt car. A 1967 Mercury Cyclone with driver. just noticed in the photo a big glob of blue paint on the drivers arm. its always something,I am gonna try a dio with two dirt cars , drifting out of a corner, racing. I love the "almost" stockers! It gives one a chance to make a well used racer that doesn't look showroom new! You can rust, dent, and cut to whatever level you desire! Thanx!!

I, too, love the look of 'used' racers. This looks like you're not fudging on the detailing either. Nice! Looking forward to the dio. Racers only look new until they hit the track for the first time. I painted my bro-in-laws new sportsman several years ago, pinstriping and all. Entire front end was wiped out in the first turn of the first lap.

the dirt track dio is coming along. Here's the other car , a 1964 Dodge, that still needs a little dust and some small decals. Attachments:

thanks for the replies guys. The dirt track dio won a gold medal, one of two awarded out of 12 or so dios, at the show on Sat. My build was runner up to best dio which was a 1/8 scale vinyl kit "Frankenstein Awakened", or some thing like that, The Frankenstein build was painted extremely well and some variations were made to the kit taking it beyond out of box but it was a kit. I really don't care but frankie should not have been in the diorama class. tom
