....thanks guys for the kind words, I appreciate the it!... ....chief, the paint I use is Testors Enamel ..1149 Fl Black. It's not the regular flat black, it says Noir Mat. Has a light sheen to it. To get that rough texture I use a cut down brush and stipple the paint on. After it dries I use 1000 grit sand paper and gently go over the pipe to dull the high spots. Be careful not to sand too much, you just want to lightly scuff the surface.

Dry flakey paint look on the floor joists is really well done. Do you use rubber cement or masking fluid?

..thanks greezerman, actually it's a process that was developed by Chuck Doan. the technique is a bit involved but basically you apply a coat of thinner(mineral spirits) to an already weathered board. Then you add a couple of thin coats of acrylic paint. Wait about a minute or so, then, using scotch tape, you stick and peel. If your timing is right you get a great looking peeled paint effect. The best thing to do is visit Chucks folki page and he gives a detailed description of his technique. Worth the read!!!
