Joining in a group 40 Ford themed build over at Skids place Out and at it early this morning !! First, my usual disclaimer, that I'm about as shallow as they come. I build my models to be seen on a shelf and look as good as possible in photographs. Not real interested what goes on from the sewer view other than making stuff work together. Wasn't planning on getting radical. I want it low but was too lazy to try to Z the rear end. So I dug out a bagged rear end. come to find out that Zing the rear may have been easier. But I got it down where I want it it, even though it ain't pretty.
Now to get the front slammed. The kit's dropped axle with the through wire rod makes the fronty look as high as a gasser. Tomorrow, I'll address that issue !!

Not a lot of progress today. I'm working on the front cross member for the front axle. However. The 303 Olds engine in the kit is getting a small change. I found some Big block Chev heads and valve covers in my generously restocked salvage yard. I had to shorten that tall oil filler tube (?) to clear an alternator, also from the salvage.

For a time the 409 engine with those unusual heads/valve covers was hard to find. I'm glad they made a comeback in kits and you're using them. As to the shortcut to get the model low, I guess if it works for you, that's fine. I once despised any model without an engine one could see. The rarity of some vehicle models and the quality of some kits without engines doesn't bother me as much anymore. "Just build kits" should be our song. Thanx!

Happy new year to me ! Today got me to wondering why I fight this mismatched stuff all the time ! I guess that answer is, that I just can't do mainstream assembling and give up my individualiy. I have to mess with even new kits when I get one.
OK, The wheels I chose, and had the whole rear end set to go, caused me to FUBAR the 5K deep dish steelies while trying to mount them! DAM hollow tires again !! Went deep into the salvage yard, found another bagged rear end and dug out a set of 5K resin 'Cragars" and a set of slicks that fit. Rear end is a little different so I'll have to locate it differently.
Also, in the background, notice the marks on the body. My intention was to pie cut section it to get a little more rake (green wedge shape). Not too sure if I want to go that route. I must be getting old !

That's the right stance and I think the pie wedge will work nice.

My heavens! You done it! Long section to remove. Stance on the fender section in front so low you could plow snow up here in the Midwest with it. Good luck, and don't apologize for the artist/creator in you, let it out from time to time.

I'm gettin' there !! Body and fenders ready for a paint attempt. Gettin' the interior tub ready for the minimal interior effort. Hitting the first obligatory hitch. The neat alternator failed a couple of attempts to clear the hood, so it's going another route and with a smaller unit. The Carbs were too tall also, and didn't look that great with the air cleaners lopped off, so I'm dumbing that down with something shorter and simpler from the salvage yard. I'm expecting more grief trying to match the interior tub with the body and fenders after painting. But I'm muddling on.
