As I'm finishing up the 40, and will have stuff drying, I abandoned the "folding a fitted sheet' plan. Been there tried that. So I turned to a project that I have avoided for a couple of years or so. When Don Wiseman visited me here in Fla., he dropped off some of his resin cast things for me to play with. This Impala Corvette seems to promise a challenge. Not in my general genre, but my stash is low and I'll give it a shot !!
] Doing some cleaning. some pinholes will have to be filled. The first major task is getting the right side A pillar in better alignment!

That frame looks really z'd. What is it ? 60 vette with a 58 impala roof ? What do you make from that ? ha

One of my friends from Skid's Place stopped by on his way thru Florida a couple of years ago, and gave me some of his resin castings to play with. I have no idea what he cast from. The frame was with the parts. I'll be using something else. Biggest hang up will be coming up with front and back glass. Lotsa body work to do. Not a professional casting. but the price was right Prototype foto;

I guess you don't have a 58 or 60 impala around to steal glass from......... Kind of looks like a family vette. I'll bet it seats 5.

My friend says this car was shown at the 1956 Motorama Show. Working on the lack of glass problems, I turned to the lack of head lights. By carefully enlarging the openings, a practice I've used before, I think I can fit a pair of Ford dog dish hubcaps. A standard paper punch will give me the right size acetate circle for the lens .

Rounded up a pair of 'driving/fog' lights. they're a bit larger than I like, but they'll be molded in and won't look so large.

Driving lights pretty close to molded in. Don had included a clear (resin?) Corvette grill, but it was very fragile and didn't stand up to cleaning the flash. I found a grill in the salvage that I liked, but it had been shortened on the left side. I cut a 'tooth' off the right and added it on the left to balance it out. Not great, but I like how it looks in there. Working on solving glass problem still.

The grill looks aggressive, I like it.

I'm finding that out that Liter plastic just curls up and doesn't soften at all. I have tried and abandoned some other stuff also.
If I have anything to brag about with this build, it's that I haven't thrown it against yon far wall yet !
Meanwhile. I have managed to piece enough stuff from this pile of frames to butcher up something to mount wheels on. UGLY !!! But it's hid under the body. A hood is being bashed from another salvage find.

Slogging thru the windshield problem. Hood is made. It will be closed, this'll be a curbside, more or less, with no engine. Meanwhile, I'm bashing up an interior and the salvage pile puked out an older Corvette dash that I'll have to widen a bit.

I have a lot of spare frames and int tubs I got off ebay I'll never use. Let me know if you want me to send you a sampling of them. Looking good, the hood looks like it belongs. I use that very dash on a lot of my customs too, it can be stretched and shortened and still look almost like a custom dash.

The vacuum forming of the windshield has defeated me. Plastic blanks for vacuum forming were in the new hobby catalog that arrived earlier this week. 12 bucks for a couple of 11 X 5 inch pieces. Not going to happen on my SS budget. So, a trip to Win Dixie for groceries got me this. Usable top and bottom plastic - 10 X 5 inch - plus, a 10 inch roll of blueberry Danish! 4 bucks.
Even this thin plastic was unable to completely form over the buck without folds developing. Before I shut off the Wisdon Suck Machine, I draped a piece of sandwich baggie over it and even that couldn't form with out folds. That's when I knew I was defeated ! :19: To the salvage yard ! I came up with a windshield frame from a 60 Ford Sunliner. Modifying to fit, and I'm shaping a piece of the roof to vacuum form a windshield over. Slight curvature that I think I'll have no problem with.
Starting to get a tad ugly ! The new hood has been glued in in place to add rigidity as I butcher into the cowl section.

Wow. Lots of trouble there. I can see now why it's been so long since we heard from you.
