Every rod has a story. Sometimes it's simple and sweet. A guy buys his first car. He keeps it and maintains it for the rest of his life. Other times it's not so sweet. Or simple. This build will be the latter. A guy buys a car, hot rods it and drives until it's leaking everywhere and the front end is as loose as a goose, and sells it. The next owner says, it needs to be a custom, and begins the work. He gets as far as his budget, his skills and his wife's patience allow. It sits for a while after that, until he sells it. This happens four or five times times since '51 and the car is now a patchwork of styles and skill levels. The latest owner, well he just wants to go fast in a straight line. So he rebuilds the 409, beefs up the drivetrain and throws some slicks on it. And that's where we find it now.
It's a rebuilder from a friend. It took a month in the dip, to get 90% of the paint off. I got just enough parts to build the car with lots of help from the parts bins. I'm planning on faded red with white scallops. The blown 409 will have three deuces on top. I'm finally gonna use that crazy scoop from the Monogram '53 Chevy.
