I used the dropped axle that came in the 40 PU kit, but the axle bottom sits on the ground and the brake drums were up in the air. I took the '40 axle back off and got the stock one from my other new kit (next build), 36 3 window. That kit has a stock axle as well as a dropped one that I'll use for that model. My camera doesn't take good close ups, but if your interested in these brake shoes (they're exquisite, by the way), Here's where I got mine. He has a great array of castings along these lines www.scenesunltd.com/

Tried something new to 'cave in' the roof. Open flame usually ends in disaster for me. Boiling water a lot of hassle with minimal good results. So I started a fire in my trash barrel and set a body repair concave dolly on the grate. Went out after the fire died down, and pressed the roof down on the dolly. Rough result, but not too bad! But then dumass carried it back to the shop where I discovered that by not paying attention to how I was holding it, and that the plastic had not hardened back yet, I had pinched the lower front and rear edges together totally destroying the upper door openings. !!! I'll fix it Good thing about building junk..... doors don't have to fit well.

I hate it when that happens. I am sure you have it under control.

Yep, under control. Today I worked on the doors while other stuff was drying out. This kit had inner and outer doors. The inner doors had diamond pleated panels cast in. Ground those off and made (metal) panels. I rusted the inside of the outer doors, because that will show thru the openings in my scratched inner panels. Now, I can assemble the inners and outers and continue junking them out

Today I worked on the hood and firewall. I'm aware that these aren't correct for a 40 Ford, but they're gonna look a heck of a lot better holding the hood open than the lame 'working' ones that were in the kit! OK? I don't know where these originally were for. I inlaid them into the sides of the cowl and filled the kit's holes. I HOPE IT WORKS !

This rust don't look too bad, eh? It's going to be masked over. Body color will not be primer. I have most of the parts to this stage. Need to figure how I want to treat the rear fenders yet.

Gettin there. Here's a mock up. Finally getting around to the bed. I think I'll be separating the bed from the sub frame for better display options

Sunday morning. I daubed mask on selected areasof the front fenders, hood, and doors, and while that dried, I cut out the parking light lens on the headlight ring that I'm going to use (from the back). Then I sprayed the body color and removed the masking fluid. Rest of the day devoted to football. ;D
