Looking good. It does test your building skills. In real life these engines are almost 3 feet wide. When you hang the oil tank, water pump, etc, etc,etc on the front of them they become a big bear.

That is an awesome looking chassis. The roll cage for the trucks can be a real stickler. Looks like you have it well under control.

Well that cage looked kind of tacky. I shouldn't have tried to salvage some of the 55's. So I tore it off and I'm trying to make my own roll bars from scratch using aluminum rod & tubing. Kinda of like an agonizing rectal itch trying to hold this stuff together !!!

Well, (apologies to Chick-fil-a), this suks. My previois boo boo involving the wheelbase and correcting it, leaving the engine quite a bit forward, makes it impossible to use the zoomies I had planned to use

If you removed the tank could you slide the engine back enough to use the Zoomies? I had the same problem on the 49 Merc. Turned out the headers from the Christine kit solved the problem, so I didn't have to doink with it any more.

Yeah, Buck, but I'm way too shallow to redo the whole engine mounting thing. The engine is permanantly in now. I used the Gibson headers that I so laboriously carved out the backside and just added some dump pipes Now to finish up the interior. I need to stay focused on that because I'm starting to really look at that super cool body !!! I'm liking the scoop that was in the 55, but I'm afraid it wouldn't clear the carbs with the plumbing. I know the carbs will stick up above the hood a little bit but not how much. ( I did start playing with that scoop a bit, though, anyway ) I'm going to try to widen it 1/8 inch.

Once again, waiting on drying ! New rollbars deceided not to fit once I started gluing stuff together ! Story of my life. So, naturally my focus turned to the truck body. I really like the scoop that came with the 55, but it was too narrow for the carbs&plumbing that I was sure will not clear the hood. They do stick up a little, I found out once I cut the hole. widening the scoop seemed to be the solution, so out comes the saw. Adding a 1/8 inch strip. I'm also hoping I can save that windscreen strip, so I cut that out of the 55's hood and hacked it. If this works, it'll be cool !! ( I'll make it work!)

This morning made yet another adjustment on the roll bars and painted then for the 4th time. sanded the filler on the hood scoop and got it in it's first primer, Scratched a parachute, Started working on the hood, ;D This part, I enjoy !!!! I built up in front of the scoop hole with .005 styrene sheet so there wouldn't be as much Bondo.
