I've always prided myself that I would finish a model before I really got into another. Well, My birthday, xmas, thanksgiving, the easter bunny and everything short of the Rapture came to me today. What a shallow bastid I am !!! The dio will go back in the closet for a while. How could I not start on this??

Yea,Geez , I know how that goes, I have my in and out of the closet project on the table now, a tug boat, as I gear up to take the rad rod plunge. I like the old rusty tug but I like my rat rod idea better. WOW! nice resin parts, go for it Geez, tom

Thanks, Tom. The dio will be back, Lord willin. But this was a gift that I would never have/or spend, the cash for. And I'm pretty stoked over it!!!

Not a lot of reportable progress. I fit the 55 Chev doner floor pan and tubbs to the truck. Want to get the frame fitted, but I think I'd better get the Gibson engine pretty well on the way so I can figure out motor mounts.

Getting a floor pan to fit that nice is always more work than it looks like. Good job.

I am claiming a small victory after an epic all day battle to mount this engine to the '55 doner frame. I shudder to think what I will be running ino as I try to wrap all that stuff around the mountain.

Y'know how you pick something up to mess with while you're waiting on some other part to dry or set. Well, I picked up the Gibson headers. Left a lot to be desired, so I thought I would clean up the backside of them. I soon realized this could be a job! And then realized near the end, that the time I had invested in carving the rear of the pipes, I could have built several sets, easier and probably better with styrene and solder. By then it had got to be a matter of principal. It had taken all of the afternoon and into the evening !!! And.... I have to do the other one ! (sigh)

That header looks great. I found the resin hard to work with very brittle. It does take a long time to carve a decent piece out of them.

I'm going to plain shocks (telescoping alum tubing) over coil overs. Replacing the molded kit coil over shocks, they' didn't look real great. Reached another,"Oh boy, what'd I get into now", moment just before I came in for lunch

That header looks really good and yes, I do that all the time too. I end up making a model in itself of one part that might never even be seen again. Greg.

Got the tranny on the engine and mounts for rear of it on the frame. So now I know for sure that I have to modify the firewall. The rear of the engine was right up against it, So I gave it some room. Modifying the tunnel. This is a mock up. I'll have to fill some of it in. I think I have it under control

Whew !!!!! This hasn't been as easy as it appears. The 55's upper front frame work wasn't gonna work with my truck, so I've been scratching my own. I have to make it so I can get it painted seperate from the firewall and engine and it'll go back together. I hope it works when I try to get everything together. I sure hope that honkin big thingy on the front of the engine ain't going to be a problem !!
