Rat rod might be just the place to put this !
This could possibly be the 2nd disaster for this set of pro street tires This whole build, so far, is looking suspect already.
To start, this involves two kits, The Lincoln engine left over from the T kit that I made my snow machine from, and a new 60 Impala kit I received for xmas. There is only one thing I would do with something like the Impala - pro street !
Well, the 409 that came with the Chev looked too cool to be put under a hood, so it it destined for a future hot rod. Down and dirty !
I started by salvaging the pro street wheels from the ill fated 55 Chev,"frankenstein".
These tires had very thin sidewalls that were quite warped to start with. I had horsed them onto some rims for the 55. Turned out crap!
I'm turning them around for this attempt with the painted lettering on the inside. The only wheels I had that would fit the opening with any degree of covering, are an old pair of my 5K resin that are not too sharp themselves !
I searched thru my salvage yard to come up with a rear end and backing plates, and finally ended up with the bashed one in the center of the foto. A little weak, probably, for a muscle car, but I am intending this to be a semi-curbside. Especially involving the rear end. No 4 link suspension, maybe no suspension at all. just something to stand up to a casual peek under the rear bumper. (I have reported, before, how shallow I am!)
The Lincoln engine: How easily satisfied we were back in the 50's and 60's, eh? Not only was the T engine just a suggestion, but the Lincoln is just as bad. The claim that this could be a Lincoln 430 C.U. OHV V8 can only be verified in the instruction sheet that included info as to the bore and stroke, compression ratio, horse power at so many RPMs, etc.
The vaguely shaped minimal pieces of plastic give little clue.
Sorry for the critique. I'll be trying to make a reasonable looking engine out of it as I did to the 4 banger.
This promises not to be easy !
