Recalling seeing a dragster frame and a couple of Hemis in my care package, a bell rang when I came across this foto in the HAMB website.
Off the wall enough for me. Not going to replicate this, just use the concept. My brain starts working as soon as I wake up every morning, usually somewhere around 5 A.M. I got the idea to try for a cockpit surround before I even had my morning coffee. So, waiting for drying time, I started rounding up stuff and butchering! The pan part is a pie cut 36 Ford hood. For the cockpit shell, I'm filling some of the wheel opening in the two fenders that came from the panel that I previously salvaged the body from. I'll be cutting and fitting, and hopefully, now that I've committed myself, fit the surround to the frame. Gonna be fun, later mounting that front engine.
Going thru some HAMB vintage fotos this morning, I came upon this. Taking it for an omen, I may give this idea another go. Please don't hold me to it. I still can't see any controls for the front engine. Rear tires are smoking. 'Y suppose the front is a dummy for show? Imagineering will have to come into play here.
I have this thing restarted. I may be on the right track now, and will keep at it....... I think! I abandoned the cockpit surround idea and will try more like the reference foto The pair of Hemi's have been Saved and are now on the way to Resurrection.
Mocking up stuff.

There seems to be a line from the front engine running into the fuel pump of the second engine. You can just see it above the other side lower frame bar and it looks like it runs right through the center of the frame. It's not big enough to be a drive shaft, is it ? And it seems to end right in the front of the back engine. See what I'm seeing ?

The more I look at this... I see another engine or two in it, some reins leading to each engine and a fat guy in a red suit holding the reins with some wrapped packages, if you get my drift.

LOL, I have no idea how they maneuver this thing or plumb it or anything else. My model will have probably as many or more things I won't even try to explain off as 'Imagineering'

Had no zoomies in my salvage, so will making 2 pair from these.
Made the front frame extensions needed to have some engine mounts. I do believe my imagineering will be stretched to the limit on this pig !

Noooooooo.... There are limits to your imagination ? I doubt you have any more limits than I do.

Now that you mention it though... I don't see any kind of steering from the cockpit and I can't figure out how a tie rod would fit with the transmission sitting between the wheels like that. I wonder if this is somehow photo shopped ?

I wonder if this is somehow photo shopped ? I was wondering the same thing, Bob. But I'm plowing ahead anyway. This production was destined for a comedic outcome from the get-go.
I like Sam's ( from Skid's Place) idea and will run with that. First, (after cutting the axle shaft stubs off the quick change box), I made some backing plates from a couple of Chev hubcaps, and got some U joints from a steering shaft.
Next, I needed plates to cover the sides of the quick change housing. I see no need to hide the identity of these. :17:

Yep. I'm starting to think the right reins would control the throttles, the left reins would control steering......

The triumph of imagineering over the ignominy of defeat !

Looks good. The slicks still shine a bit. They would spin more than the rears.

Progress report, even though it's just mundane stuff. Been making the engines busy looking with a little detailing and working on the cockpit area. The rear engine is permanently installed in the frame.

Both engines installed. Just need to add a couple of coils, close in the cockpit sides and put 'er together.

This might be the best picture of it. It needs one of those real pics reduced and hanging on the wall behind it....
