Starting with my other Christmas gift.
My 2nd one. First one, "Sonofabeach", resides in the Zimmerman Model Car museum.
Mild old school street rod, nothing garish. Just maybe shaved and dropped a bit. I think I will replace the flatheads kit FI with another old school item,Hilborn for flatheads.
I have a resin one of these. cast by VCG Resins off of a master I build way long time ago.
OK, we're off !!
OH, wait a minute. Igor spent a half semester in wood shop before he got expelled from Jr. high school. He says he can chop this top, AND section it too !!
We'll see about that !

Sounds really neat, going to just lay back the windshield a bit ?

Nope, Bob, just a standard mild chop. This model sets way higher than I like. Both ends of the suspension are set up rather differently than I'm used to. I need to keep the floor board piece, So I unashamedly butchered the bejesus out of the front , just to get the stance a little lower. Rather stiff ride, eh? Probably would have been easier to cut the frame and Z it. But it is what it is.
The rear is something else altogether. I may have to go into the salvage yard to get a rear end with parallel leaf springs that I can use lowering blocks !

Yea, you might go through some tires with that one, but nobody will be able to see it.

Went out this morning and looked things over. This first foto is how the rear end is very high using the kit's stuff and mounting points.
NOT ACCEPTABLE !! Couple of fotos with the rear end setting right on the bottom side of the floorboard. This is where I would like the stance to be !
So this afternoon, I cut out the floorboard and this will not only be chopped and sectioned, but channeled as well !! If I I hadda done this in the first place, I wouldn't of had to bugger up the front end so bad !!

Actually, the floor pan sets pretty level. I compensated a teeny little on the channel. It went fairly easily. Here is the frame setting in the channeled floor pan.
And here is how they set together on the wheels.

Looks level to me. Maybe an inch or two of rake. How far do the fenders go over the wheel wells ?

Of course none of it will matter much until you get the section done, that will put a new perspective on it all.

Might have to, Bob. Will see how the injector stacks fit with the pancaked hood !

Chop pretty well finished.
I went ahead and cut the hood for pancaking. Hope this doesn't bite me for doing it before the body gets sectioned.

It's probably not a good policy to set a 'disturbed' person loose with a chain saw, but it was Igor's job to section this wagon. He got the job started in fine shape !
